My good friend and compatriot Lyndsay Meager is getting married.  I haven’t met her fiancee, but he sounds like a fantastic guy and I’m sure they’ll be very happy together.  Congrats and all the best guys.

I’ve been tagged

Monday, December 10th, 2007

The delightful Heather Castles has tagged me for the “5 things about myself”, so here goes

1. I have been studying a Japanese sword art called Hokushin Shinoh Ryu Iaido for the last three years, and toured Japan with members of my dojo in October. I miss onigiri.

2. My most popular work on redbubble is also the work that i’ve spent the least time on.  Monster Love was created on a whim because I had made felt toys of the characters.

3. My wife Cheryl and I have just bought a house. Well, technically the bank has bought the house, and will let us live in it while we pay them back. It has a sandpit!

4. I grew up in rural Victoria, in a town with a population around 400.  My primary school had about 80 kids, there were 7 of us in my year.  Everybody knew everybody else.  Recently we visited the town again.. it was a lot smaller than I remembered.  People still remembered me.

5. Illustration is my obsession, but I’m technically a full time web designer and developer at Good Dog Design. Adobe Flash is my specialty.

I’m tagging Lyndsay Meager(designer and illustrator), Dale Harris(designer), Mike Hepburn(illustrator), Tom O’Keefe(designer) and Thickblackoutline(illustrator)

The rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Movember

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Hi All,

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I’ll be growin a Mo. That’s right I’m bringing the Mo back because I’m passionate about changing men’s health and the fight against male depression and prostate cancer. Why…

  • Depression affects 1 in 6 men…Most don’t seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide.
  • Last year in Australia 18,700 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2,900 died of prostate cancer - equivalent to the number of women who die from breast cancer annually.
  • Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 5 years less than females.

To sponsor my Mo please go to http://www.movember.com/au/donate, enter my registration number which is 129338 and your credit card details. Or you can sponsor me by cheque made payable to the “Movember Foundation” clearly marking the donation as being for my Registration Number: 129338. Please mail cheques to: PO Box 292, Prahran VIC 3181. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

The money raised by Movember is donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative, which will use the funds to create awareness, fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and male depression.
